Saints Could Trade WR Brandin Cooks
The New Orleans Saints began the week saying they were going to keep wide receiver Brandin Cooks, but trade talks are ongoing on Thursday with the Titans and Eagles. Both teams are interested in acquiring Cooks in a trade with the Saints, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports.
The Titans appear to be the more likely destination.
The highly productive receiver complained about getting the ball and how he was being used in the Saints’ offense. The former first-round draft pick in 2014 caught 78 passes for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns last season. The Saints are looking to acquire players or picks to improve their struggling defense.
Cooks is under contract for only $1.56 million this season which is a team compared to his stats. A team that trades for him would surely either work out a new deal or pick up his fifth-year option for 2018.
