Petra Kvitova Injured By Attacker With Knife At Her Home
Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova suffered a severe injury to her left hand after being attacked by a knife wielding attacker in her home Tuesday morning.
Kvitova’s spokesman, Karel Tejkal, said the burglary happened at her apartment in the western Czech town of Prostejov. The attacker did escape the scene and is said to have gotten away with about 5,000 Czech Koruna but police have launched a manhunt.
On the Facebook page of the Czech Republic’s Fed Cup Team, Kvitova said,
“What happened to me was certainly not pleasant, but it’s behind me.” “The main thing for me now is that the doctors find out what is the condition of my hand. I trust them and believe that everything will end up well.”
The injury to Kvitova, who is left handed is not life threatening but she will see a specialist to make sure it doesn’t affect her play.
Kvitova had just withdrew from the Czech Republic team at next month’s Hopman Cup mixed-team tennis tournament earlier that day because of a foot injury
