Manny Pacquiao says an agreement has been reached to fight Amir Khan
In a night filled with great boxing, this news in just icing on the cake.
It’s official. Manny Pacquiao will take on his biggest challenge yet on his retirement tour when he faces Amir Khan on April 23. It seems as though Pacquiao finally came to his senses and realized he’d earn more money on his last run if he fought boxers who actually mattered.
Pacquiao (59-6-2, 38 KO) was originally supposed to fight Australian boxer Jeff Horn on April 22. However, it seems that that fight has been scrubbed for a more interesting matchup against Khan.
Pacquiao said his next fight would be in the United Arab Emirates but as of this time, there is no word about the location. Pacquiao last fought against Jesse Vargas, where he won via unanimous decision.
Khan (31-4, 19 KO) has been angling for a fight against Pacquiao for years. He knows the Pac-Man real well through countless sparring sessions. They both train under legendary trainer Freddie Roach.
The last time Khan fought was this last May. The British fighter moved up two weight classes to take on Canelo Alvarez. Khan was knocked out in quite the fashion during the sixth round of the fight.
Here is a clip of Pacquiao and Khan sparring, it seems pretty clear that Pacquiao had the upper hand. Only a true fight will tell if Khan really learned from his mistakes.
