Karhu Taps Into Finnish Roots With “Porvoo” Pack

By ()
Inspired by Finland’s second oldest city founded over eight centuries ago.

Finnish sports brand Karhu — a standout from Capsule NYC’s winter 2017 tradeshow — is highlighting the brand’s heritage with a new set of kicks that honors one of the state’s oldest standing cities.

Featuring the Synchron Classic and Aria silhouettes, the pack pays direct homage to Porvoo, the second oldest city in Finland discovered more than 800 years ago. All four colorways are inspired by the many attractions of the area, including vibrant red shore houses, cobblestone streets, and the landmark Porvoonjoki River that flows through the middle of the city. Both shoes have a similar pigskin suede build on the upper, with the Synchron Classic standing out slightly more than the Aria due to its signature cross lace on the toe box and additional nylon mesh detailing.

Get the Karhu “Porvoo” Pack when it’s released this Thursday (March 9) at select retailers, including Hanon.
