Red Sox Trade Clay Buchholz To Phillies
After shipping Yoan Moncada, Michael Kopech and two other prospects to the Chicago White Sox for ace Chris Sale earlier this month, the Boston Red Sox have made another trade. The Red Sox have traded right-hander Clay Buchholz to the Philadelphia Phillies for minor league second baseman Josh Tobias, the Phillies announced Tuesday.
Buchholz appeared in 37 games for the last season, including 21 starts. He had a 8-10 record with a 4.78 ERA and a 93-to-55 K-BB ratio. The 32-year-old is owed $13.5 million next season which is the final year of his contract with Boston. Tobias hit .291 with nine home runs and 69 RBIs last season with the Phillies’ minor league system.
